Final Post

I've been meaning to do this for some time. For those of you still following this blog I'm sorry that I haven't been posting but other things have popped up to distract me.

Basically what happened was I bought some web space (or signed a lease I guess) and started my own website/blog. I tried to make a Superman, Spider-Man and Hulk blog work, but in the end it just didn't work out the way I wanted it to. I realized that I needed to focus on one character and as much as I dig on the Hulk and as much as I have this new found fan crush on Spider-Man at the end of the day I am a Superman fan first and foremost.

With that in mind, click on the link below to go to my new site.

Thanks. Hope to see you there.

And to you Spider-Man and Hulk fans, sorry. Gotta go with the first love and all that.

Lois and the Robot Love

This was awesome.

The more I see of that time period the more I get the feeling that Lois was having sex with everyone but Superman during the Silver Age.

Views From The Longbox Episode 30 Up and Ready For You!

Despite being of normal length this is indeed a special episode of Views From The Longbox. Friday is February 29th and in addition to being my birthday it is also Superman's birthday, so this week I chose to commemorate this by discussing (in brief, I promise) the Superman books that came out during the Leap Months from 1988 until this year. Action Comics #600, Panic in the Sky, the break-up of Lois and Clark, old home week in Smallville and the disaster that was Godfall are all brought up for either wistful nostalgia or open mockery. Also, I read some more listener mail and announce the contest.

Yes, there is a contest. Check out THIS post for details.
So listen and enjoy.

Views From The Longbox Episode 29 Up and Ready For You!

A little bit late this week because I was sick on Wednesday, but here's the episode for your supposed listening enjoyment. This week I apologize for something that happened last week that only I noticed before getting into the fifth installment of The Mike and Shag Show. This time Shag and I go through what we're looking forward to in the year 2008 as it relates to comic books. Subjects discussed are Final Crisis, Superman, Batman R.I.P, Secret Invasion, Iron Man, Dark Knight and much, much more. It's about an hour and twenty minutes, which is actually kind of good for us, but the file size is pretty decent so there's that.

Be sure to back here on Sunday for an announcement about a giveaway that I have gotten involved in. I don't want to say too much now but it rhymes with Justice League: New Frontier.

And as always you can e-mail me at with any comments, concerns or cheap shots.

What I Bought: Comic Book Week February 20, 2008

So where was this exciting and likable feature last week?

Well, I just didn't have the time.

I bought some nice books though and enjoyed them. At some point I will post about what distracted me.

It's good. I promise.

So, here are the books I bought this week with the Blue, Red and Green books first.

Superman/Batman #46
Superman Confidential #12
Superman Chronicles Volume 4 TPB
Amazing Spider-Man #551
Hulk #2
Incredible Hercules #114
World War Hulk Aftersmash: Warbound #3
Mighty Avengers #9
Justice League of America #18
Ultimate 3 #3
Robin #171
Death of the New Gods #6
Youngblood #2

Yeah, I'm still buying Youngblood and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Surprisingly I read two thirds of the books I bought this week before I got home today. It's been some time since I was able to do such a thing. I went to Titan Games and Comics this morning, got to work early, knocked out Amazing Spider-Man #551 and read all of the books except for Death of the New Gods, Warbound, Youngblood and Superman Confidential.

Overall it was a good week. I'll be reviewing Superman/Batman and Justice League of America for the Superman Homepage this week, so I'll try and post something about that to try and pimp my other "writing". Amazing Spider-Man was a somewhat satisfying end to the second arc and had a lot going for it. I just liked Slott's initial arc better. Robin was good, of course. Incredible Hercules got me all misty eyed over Amadeus' pet coyote. Hulk had some good action and a solid cliffhanger. Mighty Avengers went by pretty quick but was still an enjoyable read.

Given my current reading schedule I won't get to Superman Chronicles Volume 4 for some time. Heck, I still need to read volumes two and three. That should be a fun little excerise when I get to it.

So all in all a good week. Just wanted to mention that you might want to check out the home base for my podcast Views From The Longbox this weekend for an "exciting" announcement where you might be able to win free stuff.

Free stuff...the best kind.
